Meaʻai maloloina mo tamaiti aʻoga: meaʻai suamalie ma maloloina mo aso uma

New academic year — new discoveries, knowledge and impressions. The school menu will also need an update. Any parent knows how important it is for a child to eat fully, balanced and timely during classes outside the home. Proper snacks play a special role here. We offer you to dream together with ideas for interesting school fights — delicious, satisfying and healthy.

Kaleidoscope of wishes in a roll

A roll of thin pita bread with filling is a culinary invention for all occasions. You can prepare it for a student for breakfast or put it with you in a briefcase. Wrap any fillings in pita bread — in this format, the child will eat everything that is supposed to, without objections.

We cut the chicken fillet into small pieces and fry it in vegetable oil with salt and spices until it is ruddy. Cut half of the red onion, tomato, cucumber, celery stalk into slices. We tear 2-3 lettuce leaves with our hands and cover a thin pita bread. We put here pieces of chicken fillet and vegetables, salt to taste and add a couple of sprigs of parsley. Pour all the sauce from 2 tbsp. l. natural yogurt, 1 tsp. Dijon mustard and 1 tsp. lemon sauce. We roll the pita bread with the filling into a tight roll and wrap it in food foil. In this form, the roll will not crumble and will not have time to get wet.

A flatbread with a creative approach

Does the child love cheese? Give him cheese and onion tortillas with you to school. You can cook them in the evening — in the morning they will become even tastier.

We dilute 1 tsp of yeast and 1 tbsp of sugar in a glass of warmed kefir, leave it in the heat for half an hour. When the mass has grown, pour in another glass of kefir and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. We mix 2 tablespoons of any dried herbs. Sift here 500 g of flour with 1 tsp of salt, knead a soft pliable dough.

Finely chop 2 large onions, pour 1 tsp of coarse salt, rub with your fingers, drain the released juice. Mix the onion with 100 g of grated hard cheese. For the aroma, you can put some fragrant herbs here. Roll out the dough into a rectangular layer with a thickness of 0.5-0.7 cm, lubricate with butter and spread the onion-cheese filling, retreating from the edges of 2-3 cm. We roll up the roll, cut it into portions, shape them into tortillas with our hands, lubricate them with egg. We will bake the tortillas for 20 minutes in the oven at 200 °C.

A meaningful sandwich

If the duty sandwiches with ham and cheese are boring, prepare a sandwich in the form of a stuffed baguette for the child. You can also experiment with fillings here as much as you want. What is not a quick and healthy snack for a schoolboy?

We take a can of canned tuna, drain the liquid and carefully knead the fillet with a fork into the pate. Grate a small green apple on a fine grater, you can combine it with the peel and combine it with tuna. For dressing, we chop 2-3 green onion feathers, 3-4 sprigs of dill, mix with 1 tsp of grained mustard and 2 tbsp of olive oil. Salt and pepper the filling to taste, season with sauce and mix. We cut a mini-baguette across, remove the crumb from one half, put a piece of lettuce and a cucumber cut into circles, fill with filling. The original combination will enliven the usual taste range of the everyday menu. If you are going to give such a sandwich to a child at school, then cover it with the second half of the baguette and wrap it in plastic wrap.

Pancakes in honor of autumn

Pancakes are certainly included in the schoolboy’s breakfast recipes. They are also optimally suited for a hearty snack. The combination of sweet pumpkin and soft, slightly salty cheese is sure to appeal to children.

Whisk the egg and 200 ml of natural yogurt at room temperature with a whisk. In small parts, pour 150 g of wheat and 80 g of corn flour. Put a pinch of salt, 1 tsp of sweet paprika, pour 2 tbsp of boiling water, knead the dough. Rub 100 g of pumpkin on a fine grater, squeeze out the excess liquid properly. We crumble 100 g of feta and mix it with pumpkin. Gradually add the filling to the batter, pour out a handful of fresh herbs, knead well.

Heat a frying pan with vegetable oil, form pancakes with a spoon and fry on both sides until golden brown. If your sweeteners prefer a dessert option, put apples with raisins instead of cheese and add a little honey. Pumpkin pancakes are good in any combination.

Mobile casserole

As a hearty snack, you can give your child a portion of potato casserole with spinach with you to school.

Boil until completely softened 500-600 g of peeled potatoes, knead with a pusher, put 30 g of butter, salt and pepper to taste. We also add here 100 g of any hard grated cheese, carefully knead the mass. Blanch 400 g of fresh spinach in boiling water for just a couple of minutes, throw it into a colander and chop it as small as possible. You can add a few stalks of green onions and a handful of fresh parsley to the spinach.

We lubricate the baking dish with butter, sprinkle with breadcrumbs and tamp half of the potato-cheese mass. Spread all the spinach on top, cover with the second half of the potatoes. Thickly lubricate the casserole with sour cream and put the mold in a preheated 180 °C oven for 20-25 minutes. You can also use portion molds. By the way, this recipe can also be used as a healthy breakfast for a schoolboy.

Carrots instead of candy

The right dessert will make any snack better. Tender carrot cookies are just one of them. Boil 3 medium carrots until tender in unsalted water, cool and grind with a blender in puree. Add 100 g of softened butter, 2 egg yolks, 3 tbsp sugar, 3 tbsp coconut chips, 1 tsp turmeric and a pinch of salt. We knead a homogeneous dough, form a lump, wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator for 30-40 minutes.

Roll out the dough into a layer 0.5 mm thick, cut into cookie molds, spread on a baking sheet with parchment paper. We will bake it at 220 °C in the oven for 20-25 minutes. If desired, you can decorate the finished cookies with icing. For it, you will need to beat the egg white with 4 tbsp. l. powdered sugar and 1 tbsp. l. lemon juice. Such a homemade treat will perfectly replace the harmful treats from the school cafeteria.

School days with their intense mental loads are no worse than those of adults, they require a thorough energy recharge. And you should not deviate from a clear diet during classes. Proper snacks will help to solve these two problems at once.
