The Physiomat posture belt, what for?

It is no longer presented in Switzerland, Canada, or even in Japan … and yet it is just (and very slowly) starting to make itself known in France. And for good reason: the support belt for young mothers is still paying the price of a terrible misconception, one that persists in saying that you have to take your troubles patiently while waiting for the classic perineum rehabilitation sessions (6 weeks after the childbirth) and, above all, that such a belt would prevent the muscles from working.

Dr Bernadette De Gasquet, at the origin of the “democratization” of this accessory in France, has spent more than 10 years proving the opposite. Not only the posture belt relieves post-pregnancy pain, but she also has more than one trick up her sleeve (or rather in her scratches!) to satisfy moms. More and more midwives recommend it, it is not for nothing!

A well fastened belt!

Neither seen nor known, the support belt reposition the pelvis and at the same time helps the organs – somewhat abused by pregnancy – to get back into place. It also helps all those who wear it to stand up (many have the feeling of having taken a few centimeters!). Suddenly, it is immediately easier to regain good posture.

O le isi mea lelei, the belt acts on the deepest muscles of the lower abdomen, pretending not to work well. Morality: the tone is maintained, the perineum protected and the abs are not going to disappear! This should reassure more than one mother. According to the various tests carried out, the belt also alleviates back pain, against which anti-inflammatory drugs are ineffective and, above all, prohibited during the breastfeeding period.

If you invest in this kind of equipment, it will be essential to position it well. The trick, place the belt on the lower hips and stretch it around the waist. As a guide: place it at the level of the “dimple”, where the thigh breaks when you raise the leg to the side. A hook and loop system then allows you to hang it and tighten it as you see fit (not too much anyway) on your clothes. Finally, know that these belts are sold in one size.

Wear the Physiomat posture belt properly

According to the pros interviewed, it is better to put it on as soon as possible after giving birth, or even when you get out of bed for the first time! As soon as you are on your feet, there is no need to hesitate, especially if you are carrying Baby or undertaking an activity. Your body is still all “flagada”, it needs to be maintained.

How long should I wear the Physiomat posture belt?

As for the duration, it’s a bit as you feel it: from 3 to 6 weeks… it depends on the mothers. You will then abandon it gradually, without exposing yourself to the slightest risk of addiction. This does not prevent you from putting it back on the occasion of a busy day, an afternoon of shopping or a workout. Prevention is better than cure !

Where can you find her?

  • The whalebone belt, indicated only in the event of a herniated disc.
  • The scarf, an accessory which is used to “bandage” the pelvis after childbirth, but only effective when lying down.

Discover the testimonials of Apolline and Sharon who tested the Physiomat posture belt

« I had an umbilical hernia after my 3rd childbirth. I was in a lot of pain and felt this need to be contained, but I was always told that there was nothing to be done. I didn’t dare stand up anymore, I had the impression that my stomach was going to fall. As soon as I put on the posture belt, belatedly, after 7 months, it did me a lot of good. I had the impression of regaining my strength and growing by 10 cm! I was breathing a lot better too. Today, I put it on when I carry my children and I only regret one thing: not having had it before. »

Sandrine, mother of Apolline, 7 months (92130, Issy-les-Moulineaux)

«I wore the belt at the end of pregnancy and more than 6 weeks after giving birth. I took it as soon as I stood up and even every time I got up to go to the bathroom at the hospital. I have had two caesarean sections and the belt has been of great benefit to me. I felt really supported and I also felt the scar was less stretched.
