An expert in technology, although not applied to restaurants, Aluna MuskHe said the best restaurant is one that doesn’t need staff to talk to diners.

He was referring to the fact that technology has the ability to amaze us so much, but at the same time to make everything so simple, that we do not even need to speak, nor be spoken to.

Well, those restaurants exist. I present to you five of them and why they are so fascinating.

1. Inamo

This restaurant is located in London, its specialty is Asian food and its wine list is one of the best in the world.

The restaurant tables are practically papamaa giants where you can preview the dishes on the menu, get detailed information on each dish and customize them to your liking, as well as using it like any other fuālāʻau.

2. Bell Book & Candle

Here the technology is not as “obvious” as in Inamo. The restaurant is located in New York, and is run by the chef John Mooney.

What distinguishes this restaurant, technologically speaking, is the “aeroponic garden” located on the roof of the restaurant. It consists of having a garden from which 60% of the ingredients used for the food offered on the menu are obtained.

The chef offers only what his garden allows him to offer. Thus, their food is natural, organic and fresh.

3 Fa'asa'o

It is a molecular gastronomy restaurant located in Chicago, and is considered one of the most innovative by science and also by its spectacle.

Your manager is the chef Grant Achatz, which qualifies its restaurant as “non-traditional”. Instead of a steak or lobster, you will have edible helium-filled balloons, a plate full of food to assemble, a chocolate ball with dry ice that spills when you break it and that reveals a pumpkin candy.

4. Ultraviolet

The technology here is geared towards creating an experience unmatched by any restaurant in the world. It is located in Shanghai.

It is a table with 10 seats, with extravagant food consisting of 20 plates, without any decoration. The walls are LED screens that reach the ground, there are UV bulbs, HD screens and projectors on the tables that diffuse colors, shapes, also infrared cameras and an surround HD audio system, up to an air turbine at different temperatures.

5. Roller Coaster Restaurant

It is a restaurant located in Nüremberg, and before it was called Baggers. Technology is focused on replacing waiters and making food delivery fun.

Each customer receives a fuālāʻau through which they will order their food, and it reaches them through a ramp that is nothing more than a roller coaster that covers the entire restaurant. Thus, technology has replaced the waiter, and has given a distinctive stamp to the restaurant.

As you have seen in these 5 restaurants, technology is not only mobile phones and tablets, but it can be used to give your establishment a different touch.
