With well-controlled hypertension, we do not have to worry about difficulties with normal functioning. However, the fight against this ailment should be supported by medications and following certain rules. Up to a third of women and every second man have no idea that they suffer from it. What to eat, what to avoid, and what to categorically avoid?

Unfortunately, the reason for such problems is most often the carcass. Being overweight is a serious problem in many developed countries, and up to 6 out of 10 people with hypertension are overweight for their age and height by up to 20%. So if we lose unnecessary kilograms, we will quickly feel the change in pressure jumps. It is worth limiting, above all, white pasta, white bread, white rice, egg yolks and small-grain groats. You should completely give up concentrates, powdered soups, whole milk, full-fat dairy products, sweets, fatty meats, ready-made sauces, cheese, fast food, chips, smoked fish.

What you can and what you need

The diet of a hypertensive person should be enriched with vegetables and fruits in large quantities. The best are those that have a lot of potassium in their composition, accelerating the excretion of salt and water (which facilitates weight loss), and also significantly lowers blood pressure. We find it, among others in tomatoes, citrus, sunflower seeds. Sometimes the cause of hypertension is a deficiency of vitamin C, the sources of which are: cranberry, chokeberry, citrus, cabbage and currants. To sum up, with this disease it is good to consume in large quantities what is low in calories and effectively lowers blood pressure, i.e.:

  • latisi,
  • broccoli,
  • kulini,
  • chokeberry,
  • mountain ash,
  • tipolo,
  • Sea buckthorn,
  • cauliflower,
  • lapisi,
  • Ata,
  • aniani,
  • pi lanumeamata,
  • kapisi,
  • paprika,
  • Beetroot,
  • Tamato,
  • Root and leaf celery.

Of course, movement is very important. Choose a physical activity that gives you the most pleasure and do it regularly. It is also necessary to limit the consumption of salt, which Poles still eat too much. Often unconsciously, because it is hidden in many products. So salting the food doesn’t help. Salt should be replaced with herbs that will diversify the taste of dishes and at the same time do not hurt.

Why? It causes the secretion of a compound that constricts the blood vessels, and thus forces the kidneys to retain both salt and water, and as a result – the pressure increases. Two weeks are enough to get used to dishes with a lower content of this ingredient, and when we learn to use herbs instead, we will certainly not return to it too soon.

It is also recommended to reach for “good fats”, i.e. olives and vegetable oils. At the same time, animal fats, i.e. butter, lard and pork fat, should be avoided, as their consumption promotes the formation of atherosclerosis.
