Waiter, there’s a Pokemon in my soup

Hundreds of thousands of people, many of whom, hardly left home, stroll through the streets, visit parks, visit churches and other monuments.

Rare is the family where several of its members do not play Pokemon Go and in many cases parents accompany their children in the hunt for characters who have abandoned the consoles and you can find them anywhere, on the street, in the pool , on the beach, in your living room and even in your restaurant.

Pokemon Alu is a game that uses geolocation, to place you and the Pokemons on a Google Maps map, and virtual reality so that you can see them in your environment through your mobile camera.

There are two types of strategic points that players go to, gyms and pokeparadas.

  • Gyms are where Pokemon train or fight with others, depending on whether or not the gym you go to is from your team. There are three teams, the yellow (Instinct Team), the blue (Wisdom Team) and the red (Courage team).
  • Poke stops are places where every five minutes you collect resources, such as Poke Ball (balls to capture Pokemons), potions to restore health points to Pokemons after fights or training, eggs for future Pokemons to hatch, etc.

Hospitality participates in gamification

If you could get you faleʻaiga turned into a poke stop, the tired players of Pokemon Alu, they would choose it as their preferred place to eat. Since every 5 minutes they could access new resources.

The PokeStops allow you to add Bait Modules that make more Pokemons come to the area for 30 minutes than usual, at least in theory.

What is proven is that when there is a bait placed in a poke stop, players come to it like flies to honey.

The initial poke stops have been chosen by Niantic and perhaps your restaurant or bar is one of the lucky ones that it is a poke stop. Until recently you could request new pokeparadas through a form; but at this time it is deactivated by the avalanche of requests. Hopefully they will enable it again soon.

It is expected that in Spain Niantic will soon reach agreements with restaurant chains as it has recently done in Japan with McDonalds, turning 3.000 establishments into gyms or poke stops.

Be glad if one of your customers yells out, Waiter, there’s a Pokemon in my soup!
