The Abritel survey carried out among families in France * highlighted the main criteria for a destination to be considered family friendly. In particular, they must meet certain conditions such as the cleanliness of the beach and waters, leisure areas, beach safety, local festivals or even shows intended for families and catering. These elements were used as a basis to determine 6 seaside resorts located in the four corners of France **: Arcachon, Gironde; Argelès-sur-mer, Pyrénées-Orientales; Biarritz, Pyrénées-Atlantiques; Cap d’Agde, Hérault; La Baule, Loire-Atlantique; Trouville-sur-Mer, Calvados.
Atumauga
The 6 mountain destinations must meet different criteria. Varied leisure activities outside sports, ski slopes for all levels, easy access to the slopes, activities intended for children, sanitary facilities near the slopes and safety in the area, are the essential elements to meet the expectations of families. Thus, Chamonix, Haute-Savoie; Gérardmer, Vosges; Morzine, Haute-Savoie; Risoul, Hautes-Alpes; Saint-Lary-Soulan, Hautes-Pyrénées; and Super-Besse, Puy-de-Dôme, are the resorts chosen by the families questioned **.
Rural destinations
The third and final category takes us to the countryside. The 6 selected destinations meet these important criteria for families *: nearby family activities, attractions and tourist development of natural spaces, activities to be carried out with children, shops easily accessible, marked hiking trails, variety of catering services local. The villages competing among the most welcoming according to the families questioned ** are in Florac, Lozère; Locronan, Finistère; Munster, Haut-Rhin; Portbail, Manche; Rocamadour, Lot; Vallon-Pont-d’Arc, Ardèche.

The main criteria for choosing a family friendly destination as mentioned above were identified through a study carried out as follows:
* Survey conducted online by Atomik Research for Abritel among a sample of 600 residents in France, parents of children aged 15 or under, who have gone on vacation (in France or abroad) over the past 5 years . The field took place from March 6 to 10, 2020. Atomik Research is an independent market research and creation organization that employs MRS-certified researchers and conforms to the MRS code.
The choice of candidate destinations was made via a study carried out as follows:
** Survey conducted online by Atomik Research for Abritel among a sample of 500 residents in France, parents of children aged 15 or under, who have gone on vacation (in France or abroad) in the last 5 years. The field took place from March 31 to April 2, 2020. Each interviewee was asked to name the names of beach, rural and mountain destinations that the person said best met a list of criteria. Atomik Research is an independent market research and creative organization that employs MRS-certified researchers and adheres to the MRS Code.
